Welcome to Karen's world of nature. Karen has been published in books and magazines like the Smithsonian Orchids, Texas Monthly, The Texas Hill Country, The Washingtonian, Executive Golfer and many U.S. State Department publications. She also leads tours to select locations and ranches with exclusive access. So join her in a true natural adventure on a private ranch in the Texas Hill Country or in The Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.
To be a nature photographer, is to be a the better naturalist and truely respect and care about nature. This means understanding the subject and its habitat. ...but also knowing your subject through constant observation and contact in the field with the goal of enjoying nature and being outdoors.
During the workshops or tours you will develop your knowledge of composition, natural light, macro and how to enjoy our natural environment, I trust you will also develop a wildlife ethic. In my opinion, no photograph is more important than the safety and welfare of the subject. Always respect what you photograph or observe in nature. Please, don't ever expose a nest to the elements or keep the parents away from their young. Don't destroy what you love. But most of all enjoy every moment with nature, it's disapearing... fast.
